A New Cup of Tea in the Making

Dear whippersnappers and film enthusiasts,

Happy New Year to all! We have finally made it out of 2020. It has been a tough year for everyone in 2020, but we are happy to share that with all of your kind support and dedication, our holiday fundraising campaign has raised $8,500.00. As we open up to 2021, we would like to share with you our plans to power up our filmmaking initiatives.

Over the holidays, our production team got to meet all of each other for the first time! Holiday cheer, networking, and food, it was a delight to get to know everyone more in our film production. Not everyone could make it, but two came in spirit and that’s what matters most. Our production team was scattered in the Bay Area, Taipei, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City. Our special Vietnamese proverb we shared was “Có chí làm quan có gan làm giàu.” The English equivalent of this is “Fortune favors the brave.” The people who are determined to pursue their goals will accelerate greatly and it represents that of our film production. The hard work made possible by our producers will soon be rewarded, along with the supporters who continue to give us a lending hand when we need it.

Over the past fall quarter for Flaws of an Everlasting Memory, our music composer Logan Gammill has accomplished the rough drafts of two scores and two lyrical pieces. Most importantly, Logan has confirmed with an original theme for the main character An that will continue to add more details for a full-ride orchestra. Our screenplay has been recognized in seven film festivals up to date and has been honored with three awards. Woo hoo!

Within January and February of 2021, we have big plans to bring our fundraising tactics forward. The producers are looking forward to submitting paperwork to the SFFILM Rainin Grant application. SFFILM has been strongly notable for supporting independent cinema and every year, they would hold the Rainin Grant application to fund for screenwriting, development, and post-production.

On February 26, 2021, we will hold our first ever virtual gala. We will premiere our virtual gala on Youtube where we will have our actors perform a short scene in the film, conduct a raffle, frames from our virtual photobooth, and many more. Our ticket sales will open by the end of January 2021 and tickets start at $35.00. We have a wonderful donor who is willing to conduct a match in this gala for $10,000.00, but we need your help to reach $10,000.00. The link for the virtual gala is here so be sure to save the date!

Thanks for tuning in and here’s to an inspiring new year!
